Custom Close Message
Customize the message shown when your Google Form is closed
When your form closes, respondents see a message. Form Scheduler lets you customize this message.
Setting a Custom Message
- Open your Google Form
- Click Add-ons → Form Scheduler
- Connect a calendar and enable scheduling
- Enter your custom message in the Close message field
- Click Save
Default Message
If you don't set a custom message, respondents see Google's default:
"This form is no longer accepting responses."
Writing Effective Close Messages
Be Clear
Tell respondents why the form is closed:
- "Registration opens again next Monday at 9am."
- "The submission window has ended."
Provide Alternatives
Guide users to next steps:
- "Registration closed. Join our waitlist at link"
- "Applications closed. Follow us for future opportunities."
Stay Professional
Match your organization's tone:
- Formal: "Thank you for your interest. This form is currently closed."
- Friendly: "Thanks for stopping by! We're not accepting responses right now but check back soon."
Tips
- Keep messages concise - respondents see this on a simple page
- Include contact info if respondents might have questions
- Test your message by previewing the closed form
- For recurring schedules, mention when the form will reopen next
Character Limit
Close messages support up to 500 characters. This is plenty for a clear, helpful message.
