Everything Form Builder does

Form Builder is one dialog in the Google Forms editor. It opens on your results; New starts a read, and each result opens into its list of questions.

Sources

Paste text. Any text with questions in it: a syllabus, an agenda, a worksheet, an email. See Sources.

Upload a file. PDF, Word, PowerPoint, text, Markdown, CSV or JSON, up to 3 MB, or a photo or screenshot of a paper form.

Pick from Google Drive. A Google Doc, Sheet or Slides deck, a PDF or an image. Only the file you pick is read.

Copy another Google Form. Pick a form in Drive and its questions come across as they are. See Copy another Google Form.

Questions

Every common question type. Short answer, paragraph, multiple choice, checkboxes, dropdown, linear scale, date and time, plus sections to split a long form into pages.

Check before anything is added. Nothing is written to your form until you click the button. See Check and edit the questions.

Reorder, skip, edit. Drag rows into order, skip the ones you do not want, and change the wording, type, options, description and whether a question is required.

Assumptions listed. When the add-on had to guess, for example that "(required)" after a line means a required question, it says so under Options.

Adding to the form

At the end or at the start. Works on an empty form or one that already has questions. See Add the questions to your form.

Keep your title or take the one found. The form's title and description can come from the text, or stay as they are.

Results

Every read is kept. Results stay with the form until you delete them, so you can finish later. See Results and storage.

The same source is not read twice. Paste the same text or pick the same file again and the add-on offers the questions it already found.

Free and paid

5 free builds a month. Each text, file, photo or Drive file read into questions is one build, and the count resets on the 1st of every month. Copying an existing Google Form never uses one. See Free builds.

Unlimited on a paid plan. No monthly count. See pricing.
