What Is a Styled Form?

How Styled Forms gives a Google Form its own look, why the look lives on a live link, and what changes for you and your respondents

Styled Forms gives your Google Form a design of its own and lets you embed it in your website. It publishes a copy of the form at a Skyfield link, the live form. You pick a look, a theme color and a layout, and respondents answer on that page or inside your own website. You keep building and editing the form in Google Forms exactly as before; open the sidebar or press Sync now and your questions are copied across.

Google Forms lets you change a header image, one color and a font. It does not let you change the layout, show one question at a time, or blend the form into your own page. The live form is a page we serve, so its whole design can change, and it can be framed inside your website when you allow that.

What you can change

  • The look. Business, Fun, Glass, Editorial, Bold, Soft, Midnight or OS. Each one sets the fonts, corners, borders and background together.
  • The theme color. One color, applied by the look. A light and a dark version are worked out for you.
  • The layout. Classic or one question at a time. An embedded form can also blend into your website.
  • What shows. The title, the required marks, the language picker and more.

See Customize the design.

What changes when you go live

  • You share a different link, or an embed. Respondents answer at the live link or in the embed on your site. See Embed a Google Form in your website.
  • The add-on offers to close the original Google Form. Anyone who answers through the original Google Forms link sees the plain Google look. See Share the link and close the original.
  • Responses live with the live form. They are stored on Skyfield's servers. You view and export them from your live forms on skyfield.cloud, or have them copied to a Google Sheet. They do not appear in the Responses tab in Google Forms.
  • Your form's structure is stored on Skyfield's servers. The questions of the live form live with us so the link can serve them. What is stored and for how long is described in the privacy policy, and you can ask us to delete a live form and its responses at any time.

What it does not do

  • It does not restyle the original Google Form. The look applies to the live link and the embed only.
  • It does not take custom CSS. You choose from the looks and settings in the Theme tab.
