Getting Started

Install Styled Forms, pick a look, and share or embed your form

Styled Forms publishes your Google Form at a live link and paints it with the look you choose. This guide takes you from install to a styled form on your website.

If you have not read what a styled form is, start there. It explains what moves and what stays the same.

Installation

  1. Find Styled Forms in the Google Workspace Marketplace
  2. Click Install and follow the prompts
  3. Grant the permissions it asks for

Open the sidebar

  1. Open the Google Form you want to style
  2. Click the Add-ons (puzzle piece) icon, then Styled Forms, then Start
  3. The sidebar copies your questions to the live form. If it shows One step left to go live, click Connect Google account, sign in with the account that owns the form, then open the sidebar again

Pick a look

  1. In the sidebar's Form tab, click the pencil on the Live form settings row. The dialog opens on its Theme tab
  2. Turn on Style the live form
  3. Choose a Look and a Theme color
  4. Check the preview on the right, then click Save

Close the dialog and the Live form settings row shows the look you picked.

See Customize the design for every option on the tab.

Share it or embed it

  • Share the link. Click Share link in the sidebar and copy the live link or download its QR code.
  • Embed it. On the Theme tab, turn on Allow embedding, copy the Embed code and paste it into your website. See Embed a Google Form in your website.

Close the original

The first time a look is live, the add-on asks whether to close the original Google Form. Anyone who answers through the original link sees the plain Google look, so closing it is the recommended choice. Respondents who open the old link are pointed at the live one.

Try it yourself first

Open the live link in a private window and submit a test response. It appears under Responses in the sidebar, so you can see exactly what your respondents will.
