Share the Link and Close the Original

Share the live link

In the sidebar's Form tab, click Share link. Copy the link, or download its QR code for a slide or a printed page. The row reads Not synced yet until the form has synced once; press Sync now if it does.

The live link is the only place the clock runs. Anywhere you used to paste the Google Forms link, paste this one instead.

Why the add-on asks to close the original

Responses sent through the original Google Forms link are not timed. If that link is still open, anyone who has it can answer without a clock.

The first time a timer is live, the add-on asks once whether to close the original Google Form:

• Close original form. Google Forms stops accepting responses, and respondents who open the old link are pointed at the live one. This is the recommended choice.
• Keep it open. Nothing changes. The Form tab keeps a reminder that responses through the original link are untimed, with a Close the original button if you change your mind.

Reopening

• Turn the timer off in Live form settings and the add-on reopens a form it closed, the next time you open the sidebar.
• The add-on only ever reopens a form it closed itself.
• If you reopen the form yourself in Google Forms, the add-on takes that as your answer and leaves it open.

Using Form Limiter or Form Scheduler on the same form

Those add-ons also open and close the Google Form, and add-ons cannot see each other's settings. If one of them manages this form, choose Keep it open here, or the two will undo each other's changes.
