FAQ
Can respondents get more time by refreshing the page?
No. The deadline is kept on Skyfield's servers from the moment they press Start. A refresh shows the same clock with the time that is really left. Answers typed before the refresh are not kept, so ask respondents not to refresh.
Can someone simply start again?
On a form anyone can open, yes: a new visit gets a new clock. Set Collect email addresses to Verified and each signed-in account gets one attempt. See One attempt per person.
A respondent's laptop crashed. How do I let them retry?
On the Timer tab, enter their address under Allow another attempt and click Reset.
Do respondents need a Google account?
Only if you set Collect email addresses to Verified. Otherwise the live link is a normal web page anyone can answer.
Can I keep using the Google Forms link?
You can, but responses through it are not timed. The add-on offers once to close the original and point people at the live link. See Share the link and close the original.
Does it work with quiz forms?
Yes. The live form grades each response with the answer key you set in Google Forms, and the score appears beside it in your dashboard. A results page for respondents is optional, on the Quiz tab of Live form settings. Grades do not reach the Responses tab in Google Forms, and Google Classroom cannot import them. See Quiz mode.
Can I use it with Google Classroom?
Yes, by posting the live link as an assignment link and entering the scores yourself. See Use it with Google Classroom.
Can I time each question or section separately?
No. There is one time limit for the whole form.
Does it stop respondents from opening other tabs?
No. It can record when they leave the page while the clock runs, and the Start screen tells them so. See The focus record.
I changed the form in Google Forms. When does the live form update?
When you open the sidebar, or at once with Sync now.
What happens to my timed forms if my plan ends?
The saved time limit keeps running on the live form and your responses stay available. Editing the settings is on hold until you renew.
Can I use it together with Form Limiter or Form Scheduler?
On different forms, freely. On the same form, all three open and close the Google Form and would undo each other, so that combination is not supported. Form Timer's own live form settings include a total response limit and a schedule.
Do my existing responses move?
No. Anything already collected stays on your Google Form. Responses to the live form are collected separately, in your live forms.
