Getting Started
Install Form Notifications and create your first email notification for Google Forms
Form Notifications sends custom emails when your Google Form receives a response. Here's how to install it and set up your first notification.
Installation
- Visit the Google Workspace Marketplace
- Search for "Form Notifications"
- Click Install and follow the prompts
- Grant the requested permissions
Open the editor
- Open your Google Form
- Click the Add-ons (puzzle piece) icon → Form Notifications → Start
- The notifications editor opens in a panel over your form

Create your first notification
- Click New (or Create your first notification)
- Give it a name — this is just an internal label; it never appears in the email
- On the notification screen, fill in the three sections:
- Message — edit the subject and body (a sensible default is filled in for you)
- Delivery — add at least one recipient (a typed email, the respondent, or a form field)
- Status — once a recipient is set, turn the notification on
- That's it — the next time someone submits the form, the email goes out.
A notification stays off until it has at least one recipient and no errors. This is intentional: it can't send an incomplete email by accident.
How it works, briefly
When someone submits your form, Form Notifications builds each email from your template, fills in the answers, and sends it from your own Google account to the recipients you chose. If a rule requires approval, the approver is asked to sign off first — recipients only receive the email once it's approved.
