Sync and Connection Errors

What each message in the sidebar means and what to do about it

Every message below comes from the Questions tab, and each has one cause.

One step left to go live

The live form has to read your questions to mirror them, and your Google account has not been connected yet. Click Connect Google account, sign in with the account that owns the form, approve access, then reopen the sidebar.

This is once per account, not once per form. Nothing can sync until it is done.

Limits not live yet

Your numbers were saved in the add-on, but the push to the live form did not land. The limits shown are not being enforced yet.

Press Sync now. If it keeps failing, the message names the reason, and the entries below cover each one.

This form's live version is managed by a different Google account

The live copy of this form was set up by another editor, and the sidebar is asking you to be that person. Switch to the account named in the message and open the form again.

Close the add-on and open it again. That is enough to get a fresh sign-in.

Your questions could not be read

Access to the form needs re-granting. Close the add-on, open it again, approve the prompt, then press Sync now.

This form has not been synced yet

Press Sync now on the Questions tab and try again.

The live form service is unavailable / could not be reached

A network or service problem, not a problem with your form. Nothing is lost, and your live form keeps serving what it last had. Try again in a few minutes.

Quiz forms are not supported on the live form

Your form has "Make this a quiz" turned on. Respondents opening the live link see a notice instead of the questions. Turn the quiz setting off in the Google Forms settings, then press Sync now.

Your original Google Form is still open

Responses through the original link skip every limit. The add-on leaves an open form open, so this warning also appears after something outside the add-on reopened it. Use Close the original in the warning, or, if a second form-closing add-on such as Form Limiter or Form Scheduler keeps reopening it, pick one add-on per form. See Closing the original form.

Your Google Form is stricter than the live form

Shown on the Form tab when your Google Form asks more of respondents than the live form does, for example sign-in on the Google Form and none on the live link. Not an error: the live link is simply more open than the original. Change it under Live form settings if that is not what you want. See Respondents and sign-in.
